Orientation Service (for new residents)

This service is available from the ORHA Board by a written invitation sent to your cubby or mailbox.
First New Resident Orientation Meeting A Great Success

The first New Resident Orientation meeting, held on 11-18-13 in the Orchid Club, was by all accounts a great success. Nearly 60 "newbies" attended the meeting to view presentations on the big screen and listen to multiple guest speakers. The ORHA Board of Directors were also on hand and answered questions from the audience.

This meeting was the first of what many hope will be a continuing effort, perhaps quarterly, by the ORHA leadership. The original Orientation Service meetings were held in the early years of Oak Run. As the community continued it's rapid growth the meetings became too challenging and were suspended.

A revival of the Orientation Service was initiated by the Web Team during the summer of 2013 but early results were not encouraging. The Webmaster then turned the project over to ORHA Board President Dianna Love.

Dianna brought new energy and commitment to the Orientation Service and resurrected it to life. Based on a survey turned in after the meeting, a resounding 91 percent thought the presentation was 'very good' or 'excellent'. But even with those high ratings Dianna has vowed it will be better.

The ORHA Board has received many suggestions for improvements to the content of the presentation as well as the materials handed out to the "newbies". Any of you who attended the meeting and would like to express your views further can click on 'comments' at the bottom of the blog post located.

Our congratulations to Dianna and the many others that helped her produce this fine program. And to all of our new residents, "Welcome Home".

History Of The Website

The website was created by John Baccoli on January 23, 2004 as a personally-owned and personally-paid website. With very patient and helpful tutoring from Jim Dillman the site began to take shape. John's purpose for the site was to provide Oak Run residents with information such as Board meeting minutes, By-laws, Policies & Procedures and interesting coming events. The resulting site was well received by the community and John continued to serve Oak Run as Webmaster for three years.

In late 2006 after discussions with various Board members John decided to transfer ownership of the website to the Oak Run Homeowners Association (ORHA). With the transfer complete in January 2007 Bill Pascoe became the new Webmaster. Bill enlisted the help of Bob Sheetz and John McHale to obtain software that would make maintaining and expanding the site easier and less HTML code intensive.

Carrying on John's tradition of providing information to residents Bill began to include new pages for many clubs and organizations in Oak Run. Eventually the Channel-12 messages and links to local websites were added. Bill had many assistants during this time of expansion who provided content and other help with the new web pages. After four successful years Bill decided to step down as Webmaster.

In January 2011 Jim Waddell, ORHA President, began to put together a new Web Team. In March 2011 Ron Kenyon assumed the leadership role as ORHA Webmaster. Ron and his team completely redesigned the website adding many improvements. The site was organized, navigation aides were installed on all pages and new content was introduced. Along with maintaining the website, the Web Team also conducts computer and technology classes, with the assistance of the Computer Club, for all residents.

The Web Team carries on the volunteer tradition started by John Baccoli, continued by Bill Pascoe and now led by Ron Kenyon. From the beginning this website has been and continues to be the "Information Gateway To Oak Run".
