About Computer Classes

The ORHA Web Team is conducting Computer Classes at the Orchid Club for all interested residents. These classes are tailored to what residents have requested. The class size is small, usually 10 to 20 people, so you get personal attention. Classes are very relaxed and informal so don't be afraid to come and ask questions and enjoy yourself. These classes are made possible by help from the Computer Club.

The next class is
actually a meeting for the Apple Users Group. It takes place on Friday, Feb 24, at 3:00 PM in the Orchid Club. This is the inaugural meeting for this group where they'll discuss how to organize and what goals they'll want to achieve. To attend you MUST register by calling Ron at 897-0297. Send any questions or suggestions to: orha.ocala@gmail.com

Computer Club members can attend any class for free by wearing their 2012 member badge.

A Brief History Of The Website

The website was created by John Baccoli on January 23, 2004 as a personally-owned and personally-paid website. With very patient and helpful tutoring from Jim Dillman the site began to take shape. John's purpose for the site was to provide Oak Run residents with information such as Board meeting minutes, By-laws, Policies & Procedures and interesting coming events. The resulting site was well received by the community and John continued to serve Oak Run as Webmaster for three years.

In late 2006 after discussions with various Board members John decided to transfer ownership of the website to the Oak Run Homeowners Association (ORHA). With the transfer complete in January 2007 Bill Pascoe became the new Webmaster. Bill enlisted the help of Bob Sheetz and John McHale to obtain software that would make maintaining and expanding the site easier and less HTML code intensive.

Carrying on John's tradition of providing information to residents Bill began to include new pages for many clubs and organizations in Oak Run. Eventually the Channel-12 notices and links to local websites were added. Bill had many assistants during this time of expansion who provided content and other help with the new web pages. After four successful years Bill decided to step down as Webmaster.

In January 2011 Jim Waddell
, ORHA President, began to put together a new Web Team. In March 2011 Ron Kenyon assumed the leadership role as Webmaster. The Web Team continues to improve and expand the website and now conducts computer classes with the assistance of the Computer Club for all residents.

The Web Team carries on the
volunteer tradition started by John Baccoli and continued by Bill Pascoe. From the beginning this website has been the "Information Gateway To Oak Run".
