About Our Recycling Program

The Oak Run/ORHA Recycling Center is located on the Service road which leads to the Community Service Center.

Our Recycling Center is ONLY for recycling newspaper, aluminum cans, magazines, phone books and tearable paper.
There are two bins located at the Recycle Center.
The large one in the middle of the Recycle Center is for newspaper and aluminum cans.
The smaller bin near the medical (white) shed is for tearable paper, phone books, and magazines.

1. PAPER - Making paper from recycled paper reduces contributions to air pollution by 95%

2. ALUMINUM - Recycling 1 aluminum can saves enough energy to power a TV for 3 hours.

3. REVENUE - Receipts from our recycling program is in excess of $6000 a year.  These funds are used to help pay for coffee, vacuum cleaner maintenance, sports equipment, lighting, community fairs and other ORHA expenses devoted to the community.

PLEASE NOTE:

Dump only aluminum cans (not bi-metal cans - most cans other than soda and beer cans) in the Aluminum Can bin.

**PLEASE!**

DO NOT THROW PLASTIC BAGS FULL OF CANS INTO THE BIN!
DO NOT PUT PLASTIC OR PAPER BAGS INTO THE NEWSPAPER BIN!
DO NOT LEAVE CARDBOARD IN ANY BIN!
DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING ON THE GROUND AROUND THE BINS!

Plastic bags, bi-metal cans, and cardboard in the bins reduces the revenue ORHA receives from recycled items.
Items left on the ground must be handled by volunteers who have to take those items to the garbage bins.

Other recyclable materials may be taken to Marion County Recycling Centers.
For the locations of these centers call 671-8465

(The Florida Highlands Recycle Center in Timber Walk will handle almost any recyclables, including yard waste, cardboard, scrap metal, batteries, oil and paint,  and is only 6 miles from Oak Run.  The Hours are: Sun & Fri. - 9AM-7PM, Mon./Wed./ Sat. - 7AM - 5PM. The center is closed Tues. & Thur.)
