OAK RUN HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION
NEIGHBORHOOD (NBHD) REPRESENTATIVES (REP) MEETING
3 MAY 2010 – ISLAND CLUB
I Meeting Call to Order
A.
At 0900 President Dowling called the meeting to order and led the Pledge
of Allegiance.
B.
Roll call was conducted by Secretary Linda Skowronski: absent were directors Jim Waddell, Ellen
McNamara, Bill Pascoe, Paul Pike, Damian Romano and Treasurer Della
Blanchard. Of the Neighborhood
representatives, 33 were in attendance, 14 absent.
II Comments from NBHD REPS
A.
NBHD #1:
1. Marilyn Coppolino:
a. Turned in flyers
found in residents’ cubbies regarding housekeeping and lawn service to Ali.
.
b. Discussed the
horrible condition of the Bonner house. i.e., weeds, overgrown bushes, need for
power washing. Is DECCA responsible for
upkeep? Ali responded DECCE is only
responsible for grass cutting but she will get an update.
c. Would DECCA
consider putting in hand rails in the (upper) hot tub? Ali will check but stated that per code
instructions, DECCA is not responsible to do so.
2. Caryle Thoms:
a. A rental house
(owned by Scott Frank) has a bench, statues, and flag poles in the front
resulting in resident complaints Do
renters get a copy of the deed restrictions?
Ali responded it is the home owners’ responsibility to ensure renters
are made aware; suggested a copy be placed in the home’s cubby.
b. A resident has a
green tent full of junk that can be seen from the street. In addition, 3 unleashed dogs, one of which
chased a resident. Ali said the Sheriff
should be called.
B.
NBHD #2: Bridget Savouras –
1. Received several complaints regarding
Robinson lawn (waist high).
2. Heard rumor that no assisted living building
was going on the 9-hole area. Ali said
DECCA is still not sure what will go there but that assisted living is at the
top of the list. Ali/Eileen concurred it would take 1-2 years before anything
was done and that they would do their best to inform the residents when a
decision is made.
3. Another rumor – people can still pay to play
on the 9-hole course. Ali said no – as a
matter of fact some folks were walking the course and were asked to leave. No one is to be on the course.
4. The Orchid Club pool has a crack in the
bottom and chipped steps; will the pool be closed in Jul/Aug for repairs? Ali said DECCA is aware of the issues and
that the repairs can be done without closing the pool.
C.
NBHD #3: Mary Buerge – there is a storm drain that is full/stopped up
which is eroding the area due to heavy rains.
D.
NBHD #4: Norma Morse –
1. Property at 8431 SW 109 Lane has uncut grass,
tools all around the outside; turned in ARB to Ali.
2. What’s the status of the bus service? Ali’s response was that the bus is down for
repairs, driver codes have changed, Marion
transit service is $1 ea way and she will look into this further.
E. NBHD #5: Ken Woodward: Orchid Club pool furniture is
nasty/dirty. Also, why have only half
the chairs (Orchid Club) been reupholstered?
It’s been about a year. Ali
stated that while it’s possible the work is being done on those that need it
most first, the chairs are supposed to be two colors.
F.
NBHD #6: Marci Hutto: How much leeway should non-maintained
homeowners be given on poorly looking lots before being written up. Ali/Eileen consensus is to what a bit.
G.
NBHD #9: John Kish:
1, There are now 37 lights out around the Island
Club; service does not appear to be keeping up there, and the jets on the spa
(hot tub) are not working. Ali responded
that the jets are working; just that one area is not as strong as the other. When John said the residents would like both
sides operating the same he was asked to turn in a write up. Also, he saw a woman with her dog in the
pool. While she did remove the dog at
his request, it was suggested that should this happen (at any pool) Security be
called.
2. John also discussed a deteriorating lawn
situation at the Lawrence
location and turned in a write up to Ali.
3. Also
brought up the lack of television signals which brought about some
discussion. However, he did not call it
in and general consensus was that things cannot be fixed if calls are not made.
H.
NBHD #14:
1, Andy Alloro: Thanked DECCA for their work regarding the
water drainage at the Bocce court. Is it
possible they can also power wash the pavers?
2. Bruce MacDuffee: Received many complaints regarding
neighborhood signs looking shabby, needing paint.
I.
NBHD #15:
1. Janet Madsen:
Maintained lots are not improving, work orders are being ignored, and no
improvement is being seen.
2. Connie Smith:
a. Last meeting it was stated that the
sign in the Preserve had been replaced.
It hasn’t, at least not the one she’s been requesting (@
79th Circle
and 117th St
Rd).
b.
Grass at the Wilder house needs attention; write has been turned in.
J. NBHD #16: Russ Acquard: Oak tree at Parkview West needs
attention.
K.
NBHD #18: Edwina Barrett: Same machines have been down for months at
the Fitness
Center
L.
NBHD #19: Veronica Andrews:
1. On the maintained lots, it appears the
workers don’t know which are maintained, which are not.
2. Air conditioning not working at Palm Grove
during Ballroom Dancing (Security called but wasn’t able to help).
3. Gate at the front entrance (200) has been
broken for a while. Ali said parts are
on order.
M.
NBHD #21: Jack Schnabel: Looking
for transportation update. Ali stated
that when SR 200 was two lanes (and there were no doctors’ offices or shopping
available) DECCA was required to provide this service. She’s not sure what’s required now but will
check.
N. NBHD #22:
1, Shirley Kutzer: People are being waved through the gates.
2. Joan Veale:
a. Thanked DECCA for
taking care of the issue at the east end of Crescent Oaks South but did request
that a gouge (apparently made by a truck) be filled in with dirt so grass can
eventually grow and alleviate a potential safety issue.
b. Some neighbors
on the east end are using the area as a parking lot; write up has been turned
in. Ali will check to see if a letter
has been sent.
c. Could DECCA
please check the water system at the cul-de-sac at the opposite end-neighbors
are using their water to keep area watered.
O.
NBHD #24: Lois Meredith: As weeds are green perhaps that’s why areas
are being neglected, particularly around DRAs.
P.
NBHD #25:
1. Joyce Dargie-Moniuk:
a. Trees need
trimming at entrances as they are hitting tops of motor homes/buses. Ali had submitted this and Malcolm will do
all trimming at one time; getting ready to do the entire boulevard.
b. Two tree fronds
have been cut, and look great. However,
there are fronds on the ground that should be cleaned up. Ali stated this should be done daily.
c. Palm Grove
lights are on all night; waste of electricity.
d. Problems with
kids (apparently under age 14) driving golf carts. Ali said Sheriff should be called.
2. Cindy Kocher:
Regarding Kathy Williams comments about the poor condition of the
outside furniture at Royal Oaks, it is indeed in poor shape. She also thanked DECCA for quickly cleaning
up the fencing around Eagles Point.
Cindy also
notified the reps about an upcoming cruise that, due to such a low price, cannot
wait to be put into the Travel Brochure.
She gave details and the sign up date of 24 May.
III Comments from Directors
A.
Ellen Salinger:
1. EMS will
have an ambulance and presentation at the next meeting.
2. Will check with Pat Gabriel as to what’s
going on with the Sim’s location (across from Oak Run entrance).
B.
Eileen Dowling:
1. Board met with Tim Lafferty and Malcolm
regarding the maintenance issue. They
are aware of the level of residents concerns.
Board hopes to see a difference by the end of May.
2. Tim Lafferty, Malcolm, and Massey will attend
the next meeting and address residents concerns. Please bring your questions but above all
please be courteous and professional. The
Board and DECCA are working toward improvements.
At 1015 President
Dowling adjourned the meeting.
Minutes Respectfully
Submitted,
Linda Skowronski
