OAK RUN HOMEOWNER’S ASSOCIATION
GENERAL MEETING – WEDNESDAY, JUN 9,, 2010
ORCHID CLUB
I Vice-President Jim Waddell opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance.
II Roll Call: In the absence of General Recording Secretary Linda Skowronski, Roll Call was taken by Jim Waddell:
A. Board Members: Absent were Paul Pike, Damian Romano, and Ellen Salenger.
B. Appointed Members: Della Blanchard present, Linda Skowronski absent.
C. Neighborhood Representatives: 31 Present; 16 Absent. For Neigborhood 21 (Bay Tree Greens) Glory McDougal sat in for Kay and Jack Schnabel.
At this point, Vice-President Waddell had Tim Lafferty and Malcolm provide an update on the maintained lots.
Last month, DECCA worked on trying to control the weeds. Ride-arounds have shown that there’s been considerable success in this area. This month, liquid fertilizer has been put down which will help in turning the lawns green as well as an insecticide that should help contain the cinch bug issue. There were also requests regarding ants which are not usually targeted however the insecticide used should take care of this. In response to a question about using a different type of St. Augustine sod, it was explained that Floritan sod is used as it is practically cinch bug resistant.
Also, new procedures have been instituted for better communications between DECCA and Oak Run residents. First, maintained lot homeowners will now use a different (green) form for their requests. These forms were sent out to everyone and are also available at the kiosk at Palm Grove. [NOTE: When filling out the form, don’t just check the box – please provide a description which will allow a better response] Also, all requests that are submitted to Community Service will elicit a response from DECCA either by phone or visit to address the issue. If, at the visit, the homeowner is not at home, a door hanger will be left to notify the homeowner that DECCA did in fact respond.
Finally, also in response to requests regarding trimming along the boulevard, DECCA has started a regular trimming program beginning at the front entrance and proceeding to the back gate. This includes landscape trimming and replacement where needed.
