My wife, Sharon, and I have resided here in Ocala, since 2003. We both retired and relocated from Long Island, New York. Our first home was built in Cherrywood Estates just north of Oak Run off 60th Street. There we resided for 3 years. During such time I was nominated and elected President of the Homeowners Association while simultaneously serving as President of the Veteran’s Club. I also was serving as Chaplain of the VFW Post 4781, plus Squad Leader in CERT (Civilian Emergency Response Team). Five years ago we moved to Eagles Point here in Oak Run. We attend New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church in downtown Ocala where I am the President of the 50+ Ministry, and a Trustee Board Member. I assist in teaching Bible Study at Dr. N. H. Jones, a magnet school, for gifted children, through a private program called the Good News Club.

My employment career consisted of 3 very diverse occupations. The first is my stint with Avis Rent-a-Car as the Truck Division Training Manager of the U.S and Canada for 11 years. The second career was a stint as a Senior Major Accounts Manager for Newsday, the sixth largest evening newspaper in the country where I serviced and managed major accounts for the Retail Advertising Department. Last, but not least, was a career with AT&T, one of the largest telecommunication companies in the world. I was the Business Alliance Marketing Manager wherein I was on the Board of 61 different companies. This afforded me the opportunity to solicit business from these member companies which generated in the realm of $64 million dollars in annual revenue to AT&T. This resulted in increasing market share in the Long Island, New York City and North New Jersey areas.

I am 67 years young, still working in retail about twenty hours a week. My career started while I was in high school. I met my wife forty-seven years ago while working at J.C.Penney. After a year of marriage, I joined the Air Force which took us many places including south FL (we always hoped to return) and overseas. I received an honorable discharge after four years.

Over the years, I took college courses, and worked many long hours. I have worked with various retail stores in management positions as: personnel, security, manager, district manager. I closed stores and opened stores as needed. I trained many new managers for other stores. I have always tried to better myself and my company. I am an honest, loyal, hard worker always striving for the best I can do.

My wife and I were born and raised in Connersville, IN. We have two grown children, Darren (retired from Navy) and his wife, Tracey, who have given us three wonderful grandsons. We are blessed. Our daughter, Melissa, works for Hershey Chocolate in PA. She has always been such a sweet person, but more so now with all the chocolate. Last month we added a rescue dog to our family, she has been a great way to meet all our wonderful neighbors in Neighborhood Eleven. We have lived happily in Oak Run for a year. We plan to spend the rest of our lives here. I hope I am able to make a difference with your help.

After I spent 30+ years of my career in the corporate world my husband, Larry, and I retired to Oak Run in 2006 from the Chicago area. I spent many years as a labor management consultant to large corporations such as Cargill, Anheuser-Busch, Pepsi and Caterpillar to name a few. I believe my past experience in business will benefit me with the challenges of the position as a Director for ORHA.

Larry and I have made many wonderful friends in Oak Run and enjoy golfing, playing cards, walking and being involved in the numerous clubs available to us. We are both members of Royal Oaks Golf Club which includes the social membership. I have served as vice president and president of the Royal Oaks Women’s 18 hole golf league, vice president of the Baby Boomers club, and I look forward to the opportunity to serve the residents of Oak Run as a director of ORHA. I ask that you vote for me at the up-coming election.

I have lived at Oak Run for 22 years. I live in Neighborhood 7. I come from Chicago, Illinois. I arrived with my husband Martin in 1989. We were married for 49 years and when he died, I decided to stay at Oak Run.

After H.S. I worked at Armour Co. in the Union Stockyards as an executive secretary. After raising 3 children, I went back to work for a wedding card company, where I was a head typesetter.

At Oak Run, I have worked in the library, helped at Bingo, was a President of the ORWGA, and a treasurer of the Illinois Club, also I am a past president of the Upstate NY Club.

I am now in the Ceramic Club, The Upstate NY Club, the OMI Club, the Upper Midwest Club, and am in both theatre groups; Way Off Broadway, and Little Theatre. In both of these groups, I have been the prompter for 12 plays.

People who know me at Oak Run, know me as Roz.

I believe I could be an asset to the ORHA.
