Tip From The Pro

Relax For A Better Golf Swing
by: Lorie Wilkes, PGA

Tension will kill your golf swing.  If you grip the club too tight you will make it impossible for your wrists to work properly.  If you have too much tension in your shoulders, you won’t be able to turn properly.  Imagine trying to throw a ball with tensed up shoulders and wrists.  You wouldn’t be able to do it very well, would you?  The same goes for the golf swing.  Do the following exercise to evaluate your tension level.   Take your regular grip and address position and then tense up your hands and shoulders to about a 9 on a scale of 1 to 10.  Try to make a shoulder turn.  Now take that tension level down to about a 4.  Make a shoulder turn.  Which is easier?
