The Garden Club was organized in 1986 to offer Oak Run residents a social/ educational forum in which to share ideas and knowledge of plants and gardening.

The Club meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 9:00 a.m. in the Orchid Club Auditorium (except July and August). Each month, guest speakers and members discuss different gardening topics. Refreshments are served at the meetings and meeting activities include availability of plants at reasonable prices. Dues are $5.00 annually, pro-rated for membership started later in the year.

Periodically, Club members enjoy field trips to nurseries, state parks and other area of interest to those who like to "dig in the dirt". Activities also include "hands-on" planting experiences. The Club holds an annual Plant sale in March.

Through the years, the Club has supported horticulture students with yearly tuition assistance. In 2008, the Oak Run Endowed Scholarship was established at the Central Florida Community College through fund-raising efforts of Club members

The Garden Club offers an English Tea in October and a Holiday Luncheon in December. All activities are shown on Channel 12 and articles appear in the DECCA monthly newsletter and the "CITIZEN".
